The Mavericks announced they will start accepting dogecoin for purchases of tickets and merchandise, becoming the first major sports team to do so.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban confirmed the news to Cointelegraph and explained his rationale for incorporating DOGE payments:
It's real. And why wouldn't we take it? Our payment gateways support it. We will HODL any we get. And it's great PR and fun to take it!”
The billionaire owner has flip-flopped on dogecoin in the past, but appears to have embraced the digital asset. Dogecoin, exploded in popularity earlier this year — even surpassing Bitcoin in terms of tweet volumes — Elon Musk’s warm embrace of the meme-based coin contributed mainly to its rise.
